Store In A Sealed Cabinet Or Case
Even though storing your collectible figurines in a sealed cabinet or case will not stop all dust from touching your collection, it will certainly cut down on how much dust you are going to have to deal with. This is important because instead of having to scrub your collectibles or use harsh cleaners to get layers of dust off, you will be able to just lightly go over them with a soft rag or a feather duster. This will help ensure that the surface of the figurines remains in great shape.
Reduce The Amount Of Humidity In The Air
It is vital that the room where your collectibles are stored does not have a lot of humidity in it. In order to make sure that it does not have an excessive amount of humidity, you may want to use a dehumidifier. A portable dehumidifier can be purchased at many large department, hardware, or home improvement stores. Simply plug it in and turn it on. As the portable dehumidifier pulls moisture out of the air, you will have to empty a tray or bucket of the water that was collected. By ensuring that the room is no longer humid, you are protecting your collectible figurines from peeling paints or loosening joints.
Keep Them Out Of Direct Sunlight
Do not keep your collectible figurines in the path of direct sunlight. The reason for this is that the strong UV rays can cause the colors of your figurines to become faded or blotchy. Therefore, instead of placing your collectible figurines in direct sunlight in order to show off the details of your collection, you will want to use a low wattage light bulb that is kept as far as possible from your collection while still being able to have a little light shinning down on them.
Avoid Extremely Hot Temperatures
If the room where your collectible figurines gets very hot during the warmer months, you will want to at least have a window air conditioning unit installed. Extremely hot temperatures can cause plastic to warp or completely melt.
